The Diocese of Springfield has announced that the Fall Campaign for 40 Days for Life will begin on Wednesday, September 27th, and run through Sunday, November 5th. The Campaign is an ecumenical effort that counts on peaceful, prayerful witness in the public right-of-way outside of the Western Massachusetts Health Center of Springfield, operated by Planned Parenthood, 3550 Main Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, at the intersection of Main Street and Wason Avenue.
It has been reported that more than 23,500 babies have been rescued from abortion since the inception of the Campaign in 2007. Organizers in our area have reported they know of at least 26 local babies who have been rescued.
Father Daniel Pacholec, Director of pro-life activities for the Diocese of Springfield and Pastor of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish in Westfield, recently said, "The semi-annual 40 Days for Life Campaign allows us as pro-life advocates to re-focus our efforts in both prayer and witness to defend innocent life against a continuing onslaught."
He added, "The 40 Days gives each of us an opportunity to do something tangible to witness to our faith and beliefs. It's a fulfilling experience for those who take part, and I would encourage those who have not participated in the past to accept the invitation to join others this fall. You are needed, and your participation makes a difference.
Springfield Bishop William D. Byrne will also lead people in prayer throughout the Campaign.
